Circular needles come in a range of cable lengths from 12 to 60 inches. Longer cables will accommodate more stitches than straight needles, so knitters favor them. Most of the connecting cables are made of nylon. Soft, flexible cables are easier to use than stiff ones. Stitches move more freely on smaller diameter cables. The join between the needle and cable should be smooth so the stitches don't snag.
A flattened area on cable just before the needle join adds flexibility. The hot stamping in both US and Metric sizes gives it the unique look.
